Direct access to the living God

April 7th, 2010 Rod McArdle No comments

We are nearing the end of our series on the Letter to the Hebrews.  The high priestly ministry of the Lord Jesus is such a wonderful truth and it certainly figures significantly in this very challenging Letter.

Across our three congregations at Deep Creek, the Holy Spirit has clearly touched many hearts with the wonderful truth that the barrier between God and mankind has been ripped from top to bottom in the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus.  The way to the Most Holy Place is open!

Our Good Friday service was a wonderful time of corporate worship.  We looked at Hebrews 9, and in particular Heb 9:11-28.  Part way through the message, we played the short movie, The Veil by Dan Stevers – it is one of many excellent visual resources at worship house media.

We concluded the service with the recent anthem, At the Cross.  The roof in the auditorium nearly lifted off.  So here’s the song, with singing nearly as good as last Friday!

Are you ready for freedom?

April 2nd, 2010 Rod McArdle No comments

The Melbourne Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Australia, Philip Freier, asks in his Easter message: “Are you ready for a taste of real freedom?”

“True freedom is the promise at the heart of the Christian faith a freedom from greed and selfishness, fear and hatred.

This freedom is an encounter with a life-giving, life-transforming truth.

A lived truth.

You may be aware of the recent global atheist convention that was held in Melbourne. Whatever was said at that conference, words and arguments ultimately miss the point if they fail to recognise that for Christians the statement Christ is Risen, the reason we celebrate Easter, is a lived experience, a real life-transforming encounter with the living Spirit of Christ.

This is the truth that sets us free.”

Passover

The theme of God as the great Deliverer runs throughout Scripture – Old and New Testaments.  On 1st April we will again be holding a Passover Dinner.

Derek Leman has provided a wonderful resource on A Passover Palozza of Information.  Not sure what a ‘palooza’ is?  Then check out his site.  And while you’re there, you’ll find some informative Passover links.

Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast – as you really are.  For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.” 1 Cor 5:7
